Prof. Filiz Akbıyık (MD, PhD)
Dr. Filiz Akbıyık graduated from Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine in 1992. She completed her specialty in medical biochemistry at Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine between 1994 and 1999. After completing her doctoral study in the same department between 2002 and 2004, she received her ‘PhD’ degree. During her specialization education, she worked at ‘Borstel Research Center’ in Germany between 1998 and 1999. After conducting researches at ‘Rochester University Medical Center’ in USA in 2002-2003, she became an associate professor at Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine Medical Biochemistry Department in 2005 and a professor in 2011. She also worked as a visiting professor at ‘Stanford University Hospital Laboratory’ in USA in 2011. Dr. Filiz Akbıyık has over 70 research articles that have been published in international journals, more than 1200 citations, 6 book chapter translations and 1 book editing.
During the period in which she worked as a lecturer at Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine, she served as the Director of Central and Emergency Laboratories at Hacettepe Hospitals between 2012 and 2016 and as the Deputy Chief Physician at the Oncology Hospital between 2014 and 2016. Dr. Akbıyık is currently the President of Turkish Clinical Biochemistry Association Ankara Branch and a Turkish Accreditation Agency (TÜRKAK) Clinical Lab Auditor. She has been working at Siemens Healthineers Bilkent – Ankara City Hospital Laboratory as a Medical Director since 2017.
